PRIVATE LONG TOUR

On this tour you travel in the comfort of an a/c car. We pick you up from your hotel and head to Dharavi, passing areas of interest en route such as a boys′ shelter, Kamathipura (red light area) and Dhobi Ghat (big open air laundry).

When in Dharavi we will be exploring the area on foot- the only way to really see it- but it will not be strenuous, and there is always the option of returning to the car!

Throughout the tour, both in the car and inside Dharavi we will show and explain to you areas that are not in the tourist guides, but give an insight about issues facing the less privileged members of society.

Cost
Cost is Rs 3,200 total for up to 5 people. For those people staying in Bandra, Juhu, the Airport area and the suburbs of Mumbai, please note the additional charges discussed in righ

As per all our tours, we have a NO TIPS POLICY. The guides are paid a good wage and are rewarded on the basis of the questionnaires which we ask everybody to fill out after the tour

Timings
You can decide whether you wish to do the tour in the morning (8.30am start from your hotel) or in the afternoon (2pm start from your hotel). The morning tour takes approximately 4.5 hours and the afternoon tour about 5 hours due to the extra traffic (on Monday to Friday).

It might be possible to do a private long tour outside of these timings. For example, you may have a very limited time in Mumbai and you may need an airport pick up/drop. Please contact us to make an enquiry.

Tours run seven days a week including Sundays and public holidays.

On Sunday and public holidays, the nursery school and some of the small businesses are closed. Despite that, there is plenty to see and one still gets a very good idea of the Dharavi slum- both the business and residential areas.

Please note that to see all the areas of interest on the way to Dharavi, you need to start from Colaba, Marine Drive, or the Fort Area. For tourists staying in other parts of Mumbai we can advise on what will and will not be included in the tour depending on the location of your hotel.

For hotels north of Mahim, such as Bandra, Juhu and the Airport area, only the Dharavi element of the tour is included and hence it might be worth considering doing the short tour. The cost of the private long tour will be greater as well due to extra time and distance for us. We charge an additional Rs 500 for Juhu and Airport hotels, and Rs 200 for Bandra.
